Kiryu Aikido 2025 Recap

2025 began as a strong and meaningful year for our community, guided by the spirit of the Year of the Snake, a time of stillness before motion, awareness of maai, and continuous zanshin. Training emphasized circular movement through irimi and tenkan, reflecting growth through calm, efficient change.

This year also marked major milestones, Blevins Sensei’s 40th year of Aikido training and promotion to 6th Dan, the release of Path of the Deshi, and the 25th anniversary of Friend Dojo Tanshinjuku. Across our Colorado and California dojos, learning and practice continued to deepen through shared commitment and community.

"The purpose of training is to tighten up the slack, toughen the body, and polish the spirit." "稽古の目的は、たるみを引き締め、身体を鍛え、精神を磨くことです。" — Morihei Ueshiba

Every Aikido journey begins with a first step.
After more than forty years of training, Path of the Deshi is the guide I wish I had when I began, for students seeking depth, discipline, and purpose beyond technique.
